The overall objective of any website is for users and viewers to

  • spend more time on your website,
  • view more pages instead of leaving,
  • share your content with their friends,
  • and most importantly, take your desired actions before they leave.
  • and make them come back to your website

How can you make this happen for your website

Create engaging and useful content

Having a blog is a great way to engage with your website. An engaging, useful blog with content that is educational for your viewers will generate many more leads than websites with no blog. And blog frequently and regularly, that will make viewers come back to back to your website at regular intervals, because they know you post at regular intervals. Blog posts will be shared and that will ultimately lead to more conversions and more business. If visitors like your blog, they may hit the Facebook button to share your posts with their friends. The very act of hitting your social buttons counts as user engagement.

Chat BOT

A chatbot (also known as a smartbot, conversational bot, chatterbot, interactive agent, conversational interface, Conversational AI, talkbot or artificial conversational entity) is a computer program or an artificial intelligence which conducts a conversation via auditory or textual methods. Asking questions has been the natural way for us humans to interact & acquire about anything they wanted to understand. A chatbot is kind of a computer program that fundamentally simulates human conversations. It allows a form of interaction between a human and a machine the communication, which happens via messages or voice command. So with the internet and search engine revolution, we humans started to find answers for everything imagine possible on Google, but it was not solving all our curiosity to get things done. Google only managed to give you information but not lead to end outcome. This urge to get more things done quickly triggered the development of Chatbot . The very first thing a bot needs to do is to understand what humans have given as an input. This understanding is achieved through various parameters such as as Text Classifiers, Suitable Algorithms, Artificial Neural Networks and Natural Language Understanding (NLU) it’s a type of NLP. All these factors contribute to the overall bot functionality and intelligence of the Chatbot. Once you have understood the intent you need to respond back with appropriate message which should sound like a natural reply. To achieve this, another type of NLP called Natural Language Generation(NLG) technique is used. What we have discussed above has mainly to do with Text Based conversational chatbots where messaging is the key medium to serve customers. But the future is going to be beyond text based user engagement. Most of the people are not comfortable typing and that the audience is quite large. Typing is the limitation but everyone knows to talk at least in their local language. So future lies in making a Voice based conversational chatbot which can understand in multiple languages and respond back in the respective language which user is comfortable talking.

Collect email addresses

An email list is simply a list of emails that businesses have gathered from visitors/customers that would like to receive information, updates, discounts, and other details about your business in a digital format that is sent to their email inbox. Email lists are important because email marketing is the best way to connect with customers vs. social media. In fact, you are 6x more likely to get higher click-through rates through emails instead of tweets. Also, email is 40 times more effective at acquiring new customers than Facebook or Twitter. In order to take advantage of connecting with customers through your compiled email lists, you need to work on email list building. Email list building is the act of getting more people to subscribe to your emails. If you have a CTA on your homepage, that would act as a source to build up your email list. The more ways you can encourage visitors to subscribe to your email, the stronger your email list will be.

Offer Freebies if possible

  • EDUCATE Freebies are a great way to educate your audience about what you know. You are the expert in your business, so why not share what you know.
  • REPURPOSE CONTENT YOU ALREADY HAVE If you're sitting on worksheets, guides, photos, graphics, patterns or other original creations, consider offering them as a Freebie.
  • GROW YOUR EMAIL LIST Email lists probably deserve their own blog post, because there is a lot to unpack there. BUT, offering freebies is a great way to grow your email list. Even if you aren't ready to send out newsletters or regular emails, creating a freebie with an email opt-in is basically like that person saying, "hey I see what you're doing and what you've got going on and I like it enough to want to get emails from you." Collecting the info from the people who are interested in what you've got going on is like cutting through all the crap of social media and getting right to 'warm leads.'
  • KEEP TRAFFIC FLOWING TO YOUR WEBSITE Keeping people engaged with your website is a great way to boost your SEO (search engine optimization), driving traffic to your blog and portfolio/products, and ultimately, your contact form so that they can work with you!
  • CONNECT WITH OTHERS Offering freebies on your website also gives you the opportunity to connect with people outside of your service area.
  • CREATE THE DAMN THING: First thing first, you'll want to create whatever content you want to offer. This may be a worksheet, infographic, guide, checklist, flowchart, graphics, images... whatever it is
  • CREATE A MOCK-UP/SNEAK PEEK OF THE THING: This is a really important, often-overlooked, step. You want to entice whoever is considering downloading your freebie with a little preview of what they are about to get WITHOUT giving away all of the content.
  • CREATE A LIST Using your email hosting, you'll want to create a list that corresponds with the freebie you are offering.
  • CREATE A FORM ON YOUR WEBSITE FOR THE FREEBIE Create a landing page (a page that only has the freebie you're offering + opt-in form with its own URL). Make these 'not-linked' pages but then make sure my buttons and links drive traffic there.
  • CREATE A 'TRIGGERED AUTOMATION' THAT CONTAINS THE FREEBIE Last step is to create an email that will contain the freebie that you want to give. This means setting up an email that is a 'triggered automation' meaning, as soon as someone signs up for this list, they'll immediately get an email with access to the thing. Make sure your email includes a subject line like "Your FREE __ from ___" and contains the CORRECT pdf or link.

Display related content

Keep Visitors on Your Site

When a new visitor arrives at your site, they will not know what to do or where to look. It is your job to make your audience’s journey on your site as seamless and easy as possible. If your visitors have to think about where they should go next, your website needs to improve its navigation. Many of your site’s visitors will find your site through a search engine, arriving on a specific post or page that was related to their initial search. The problem here is that once people have finished reading the article that drew them to your site in the first place, unless told differently, they will immediately leave. This is where a related posts plugin can be so useful. By displaying related posts underneath an article, you are telling visitors what to do next. Showcasing content in a similar niche to the post they have just read will keep them interested in what your site has to offer. And the more pages they view, and the longer they spend on your site, the more likely they are to convert against your site’s goals.

Create a Loyal Following

Creating a loyal following should be a focus for all WordPress websites. A related posts plugin will help your visitors easily access a range of articles, giving your content viewing time it probably wouldn’t have received otherwise. The more your audience reads, the more likely they are to become fans of your writing and website content, increasing the likeliness that they will follow you and share your articles on social media, and regularly return to your site.

Improve Your SEO

A related posts plugin is an effective way to improve your WordPress website’s SEO. By encouraging your visitors to read more and more blog posts, the number of page views and time spent on-site increases. At the same time, the bounce rates will decrease. These metrics are all viewed positively by the search engines and will help your content rank well.
